The Ideal Setting
The Toronto-Dominion Centre outdoor central courtyard, renamed and dedicated to Oscar Emanuel Peterson in 2004, has long been a gathering place for people and an ideal setting for music.
Situated at the very centre of Toronto's always busy financial district, Oscar Peterson Square is the ideal place to relax and recharge and, during the summer months, catch a few sets by many of Toronto's best musicians.
Oscar Peterson was considered Canada's Ambassador of Jazz. As a pianist and composer, he was recognized and celebrated around the world. Over his decades in the business, he played with and inspired some of the greatest names in jazz: Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Brown and Louis Armstrong to name just a few. A Grammy Award winner, Canadian Music Hall of Fame member and Order of Canada recipient, Oscar Peterson lived a full, inspired and remarkable life.
