The TD Centre has made significant progress in reducing water consumption usage by 200 million litres since 2009. Since 2008 water usage has almost halved, exceeding the 15% Cadillac Fairview reduction target.
Deep Lake Water Cooling
In 2003 Deep Lake Water Cooling was introduced, which uses water from Lake Ontario to cool the buildings, eliminating the need for evaporative cooling towers.
TD Centre has a water conservation policy in place with water audits conducted regularly, which look for water leaks to ensure immediate action. All taps are low flow fixtures and have aerators installed. Water closets and urinals are also low flow fixtures and have automatic valve controls and/or proximity detectors.
